Locations

In Office

Dr. Karen prefers in-person sessions when possible. The office is located on East Boulevard (near a bus stop) in the heart of the Dilworth neighborhood in Charlotte, NC. The bathrooms in the building are for all genders. Please note that we are in an older building and it is necessary to walk up and down stairs for in-person sessions.

Telehealth

Video sessions are available using a secure telehealth platform. As an ATIP-certified provider I am able to offer telehealth sessions to anyone residing in PSYPACT member state. Click the button below to see if your state is participating.

Walk and Talk

Dr. Karen provides walking sessions on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in having your sessions while we walk around the Dilworth neighborhood we will discuss it together and decide if it seems like a helpful modality for you.

Fees and insurance

All sessions are $190

Intake sessions and ongoing sessions are 55-minutes in length and are billed at $190. If you are not using insurance, you are considered self-pay (or "out of pocket"). Payment is due at the time of service and is collected at the end of session.

Cancelations and no-shows

Most clients opt to receive automated session reminders by text (24 hours before session), email (48 hours before session), or both. There is no fee to cancel or reschedule a session at least 24 hours before the appointment. There is a fee for canceling in fewer than 24 hours or for no-showing for a session.

Payment methods

All clients are asked to provide a credit card to keep on file. HSA and FSA cards are accepted for self-pay and for insurance co-pays. Cancelation and no-show fees are not covered by insurance and are not eligible for HSA/FSA coverage.

Health insurance

Dr. Karen is an in-network provider with most plans offered by:

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield

  • Aetna

Please note that some plans have limited networks (e.g., local plans or those limited to a certain hospital network) and do not consider me to be an "in-network provider."

Co-pays

Some insurance plans consider mental health providers to be primary care, while others consider us to be specialists. You can often find the co-pay amounts listed on the front of the card.

Deductibles

If you have a high-deductible plan, your insurance company may apply the cost of the session (determined by the insurance company) toward your deductible. You are then responsible for paying the amount directly to me.

The best way to verify that I am in-network and to confirm the details of your deductible and/or co-pay is to call the member services phone number on the back of your insurance card.
